Position: Finishing Manager (Troy, OH)

The Finishing Manager leads a team of Finishing employees at Mactac’s manufacturing facility in Troy, OH. This individual is responsible for the development and implementation of operational strategies, and is accountable for the daily operations and all value-added activities in the Finishing department. Further, the Finishing Manager fosters a safe work environment by demonstrating integrity, trust and ethical conduct at all times.

Responsibilities include:
  • Ensuring that all employees adhere to work rules and safety policies, applying all safety regulations in accordance with OSHA and Mactac safety guidelines, conducting incident investigations and ensuring housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Establishing a strong presence on the floor to set and communicate expectations, standards, and evaluate results so all employees understand expectations.
  • Carrying out management responsibilities in accordance with adherence to company policies, work rules, and applicable laws, including overseeing training requirements; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance when applicable; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; leading employee engagement activities and volunteerism; and ensuring timecards are accurate and approved on a timely basis.
  • Leading, coaching and providing overall direction to Supervisors, Leads and Operators to safely produce a quality product in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Supporting the facility by ensuring all departments are properly staffed with qualified employees, including administration of time off (Vacation/Personal Time) and scheduling equipment against staffing requirements.
  • Reviewing production schedules to ensure the schedules can be achieved and are based on the priorities of maximizing production effectiveness and providing good customer service.
  • Focusing on employee development by conducting training sessions (safety, SOPs, housekeeping), and coaching the machine problem troubleshooting process to develop employees to be self-sufficient in troubleshooting and part of the decision-making processes.
  • Reporting daily shift performance to the Operations Manager against established KPI's for items such as safety, quality, productivity, service, employee feedback, machinery, process, and facility issues.
  • Being accountable for department projects to ensure overall effectiveness and successful implementation.
  • Providing support for material storage and movement located at the WACO warehouse.
  • Acting as a safety champion and maintaining a leadership role as a member of the Safety Steering Committee.
  • Maintaining an adequate inventory level of general Plant supplies, monitoring and analyzing fill rate efficiencies such as products picked, packed, shipped, and meeting the ship date, and initiating corrections in cooperation with and/or at the direction of the Department Manager and technical support personnel.
  • Serving as a technical resource to help formulate, monitor, and enforce goals of the area, including providing performance feedback, SOP implementation, problem solving and ensuring an atmosphere that fosters continuous improvement in a team environment.
  • Communicating company messages to employees, and collecting and responding to questions and concerns.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for employee issues and concerns, supporting compliance with all Federal & State employment laws, and consulting with and utilizing the Human Resources Department as appropriate.
  • Accessing the payroll processing system to help ensure all punches are accurate and answer time and attendance questions.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in a business or technical discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years prior related professional experience is required.
  • Prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Knowledge of and experience with web handling and coating equipment, and/or slitting, cutting, or separating equipment and related process is preferred.
  • Prior experience in pressure-sensitive adhesives, labeling, or paper industries highly preferred.
