Maintenance Technician - 36-41/hr - Direct Placement
Responsibilities
- Overhaul, repair, and test high-speed production equipment, including ovens, packaging machines, mixers, cartoners, baggers, stuffers, and related machinery throughout the facility.
- Read, interpret, use, and update shop prints, technical drawings, and equipment specifications to support maintenance and repair activities.
- Refer to and apply information from manufacturers' manuals for servicing, troubleshooting, and installing equipment and distribution systems.
- Determine manpower, materials, tools, and methods required to complete assigned maintenance and repair work efficiently and safely.
- Recommend changes to equipment, processes, or methods to improve reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- Prepare, paint, and refinish surfaces as needed, and maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and test equipment to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and verify proper equipment operation.
- Maintain spare parts inventory, monitor stock levels, and order replacement parts and materials as required to minimize equipment downtime.
- Coordinate with maintenance supervision when locking and tagging systems to ensure proper lockout/tagout procedures are followed.
- Consistently observe and adhere to all safety standards, policies, and best practices while performing maintenance activities.
- Observe and assist outside contractors working on-site to ensure their work complies with facility standards and safety requirements.
- Train new hires and internal transfers on proper maintenance procedures, equipment operation, and safety standards.
- Apply mechanical maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting skills to identify root causes of equipment issues and implement effective solutions.
- Perform fabrication tasks, including welding, grinding, and assembly, to repair or modify equipment and components as needed.
- Work with drive trains, including belts, pulleys, sprockets, and chains, to install, align, adjust, and maintain these systems.
- Support basic electrical work on 110V single-phase and 230V and 480V three-phase systems within the scope of the role.
- Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repairing related components.
- Support the use and maintenance of sensors, PLC-controlled equipment, motors, and drive systems as part of overall equipment reliability.
Essential Skills
- 2–5 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- 2–5 years of mechanical troubleshooting experience on high-speed or complex production equipment.
- 2–5 years of experience working with drive trains, including belts, pulleys, sprockets, and chains.
- 2–5 years of basic electrical experience with 110V single-phase and 230V/480V three-phase systems.
- 2–5 years of fabrication experience, including welding, grinding, and mechanical assembly.
- Experience working with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Experience working with pneumatic systems and components.
- Ability to read, interpret, and update shop prints, technical drawings, and equipment specifications.
- Ability to understand and apply information from manufacturers' manuals for servicing and installing equipment.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and test equipment used in mechanical maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of safety standards, including lockout/tagout procedures.
- Ability to train others in maintenance procedures and safety practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term solutions.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize multiple tasks in a production environment.
