MWA, Inc. – Truckee, CA office is seeking a well‑rounded and self‑motivated applicant for an Architect/Designer Level 2 position working on custom residential, multi‑family, and commercial projects. The role can grow based on the individual’s motivation, tenacity, and ability to work with our team.

Architect/Designer responsibilities include:

• Fully competent in all conventional aspects of architecture.
• Independently perform a variety of assignments requiring skills in all conventional aspects of architectural designs for projects of moderate size and complexity.
• Perform analyses of design, planning and occupancy studies and limited design layouts.
• Prepare project specifications, compiling and analyzing relevant data.
• Write reports and specifications.
• Review completed reports, plans, estimates and calculations.
• Design and produce plans that comply with client needs, homeowners associations, design approval and regulatory agencies as directed.

After gaining more experience (~6+ years), responsibilities expand to:

• Design specific technical aspects of an assigned major project, including investigation, evaluation and recommendation of design solutions.
• Provide professional architectural consultation in the planning, design and coordination of large complex projects.
• Apply advanced architectural concepts and designs.
• Carry out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures.
• Provide technical guidance to less experienced staff.

• MS/B.S. or B.A. in architecture or related field.
• 5+ years of related experience.
• May be licensed.
• Strong knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Excel, Word.
• Knowledge of current building codes including IBC/IRC, CBC/CRC.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels.

• Physical: standing, kneeling, bending and sitting for long periods; carrying, use of hands, arms, legs, eyes, ears and voice; negotiable rugged terrain on foot; must drive vehicle.
• Appearance: presentable.
• Mental: good design and problem‑solving skills.
• Language: reading, writing, spelling and ability to communicate clearly in English.

• Estimated hourly wage dependent on experience: $33.92 - $44.68.
• Full‑time position.
• Remote and hybrid work available; must work in Truckee office at least once a week (CA & NV residents only).
