SummaryThe Materials Management Clerk – Surgical Services supports the daily supply chain operations for the Operating Room (OR) and procedural areas. This role ensures the accurate receipt, storage, distribution, and availability of surgical supplies, instruments, implants, and equipment to support safe, efficient patient care. The clerk works closely with OR staff, Central Sterile Processing (CSP), Purchasing, and vendors to maintain optimal inventory levels and compliance with regulatory standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Receive, inspect, and accurately stock surgical supplies, implants, and equipment in designated OR and case cart locations.
- Maintain accurate records using the materials management computer system.
- Monitor par levels, expiration dates, lot numbers, and recalls; rotate stock using FIFO/FEFO principles.
- Collaborate with OR leadership and clinicians to resolve supply issues, substitutions, and urgent needs.
- Assist with implant tracking, consignment inventory management, and documentation to support charge capture.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, Joint Commission, and hospital policies.
- Maintain clean, organized storerooms and OR core supply areas.
- Communicate effectively with vendors regarding deliveries, backorders, and returns.
- Support cost‑containment initiatives and standardization efforts.
- Regulatory & Compliance
- Follow hospital policies, Joint Commission standards, OSHA requirements, and manufacturer instructions for use (IFUs).
- Maintain documentation related to recalls, lot tracking, and temperature monitoring as applicable.
- Demonstrate System Values in performance and behavior.
- Comply with System policies and procedures.

Other Experience/Qualifications Required- Basic computer skills and experience with inventory management systems.
- Ability to read and interpret preference cards and supply nomenclature.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Experience in an OR or perioperative environment.
- Knowledge of surgical supplies, implants, and inventory control practices.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Basic computer proficiency: preferred experience with inventory/ERP systems.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- 1–3 years of experience in healthcare materials management, central supply, or surgical services
