Travel RN - Operating Room

Overview

We are seeking Operating Room Registered Nurses (RNs) for an immediate travel position in Truckee, CA. Candidates should have 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience as a circulating or scrub nurse, and may also be an RN first assistant.

• Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients, including pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education.
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions.
• Serve as the communication liaison between patients’ family members and the operating team.
• Ensure the correct procedure(s) are performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plans as prescribed by the physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home‑care needs.
• Provide basic bedside care.

• Respond to comfort and safety needs of the patient.
• Accurately care for and handle specimens.
• Monitor equipment used during surgery.
• Inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.

• Select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures.
• Inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.

• Assist physicians in delivering direct surgical care.
• Help control bleeding.
• Suture patients following surgery.

Travel Nurses should be able to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty. They must also be able to lift 20 pounds easily, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Exposure to certain chemicals or infectious diseases is possible in the operating room environment.

• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• 3 years of RN experience

Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.
