The Bakery Department Specialist ensures that our customers’ needs are met and exceeded by delivering remarkable customer service and providing customers with exceptional product knowledge, efficient service, and a friendly attitude. The specialist supports the Bakery department by greeting and assisting customers, promoting sales, preparing, packaging, labeling, and merchandising products, maintaining department standards, and assisting with customer requests and special orders.

This role requires safe, sanitary handling of all products and keeping all areas and equipment clean.

• Provide customers with a remarkable shopping experience by greeting and thanking them promptly, answering questions, and responding to requests for bakery products.
• Accurately place special orders and offer suggestions for event planning.
• Receive, inspect, and log products for shipment accuracy and quality.
• Weigh, wrap/package, label, and display products; stock, rotate, and restock to maintain freshness and appeal, while minimizing waste.
• Maintain knowledge of bakery products and additional items to offer customers suggestions and directions within the department.
• Prepare various baked foods according to company guidelines while ensuring proper food handling and safety.
• Communicate customer requests to department management.
• Follow all department procedures and operate appropriate equipment and tools.
• Keep work areas and equipment clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards; report faulty equipment and hazards to management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Product ordering, inventory control, bakery operations, merchandising, sales techniques, and department management.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math calculations.
• Knowledge of and ability to use strategies, practices, and tools for gathering, analyzing, and communicating information in a retail environment.
• Excellent communication skills, outgoing and friendly, able to interact effectively across diverse cultures.
• Baking and decorating techniques, food safety practices.
• High School Diploma (or G.E.D.).
• Six months of related experience; previous bakery and cake decorating experience preferred.
• Must be available to work a variety of required retail hours and able to operate equipment used in the department (oven, scales, label machine, etc.).
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, use stairs, reach, pull, and lift objects.

Hiring pay range: $17.25 - $27.00 per hour.
