Facilities Maintenance Worker I - Full-Time - Public Works - Town of Truckee, CA

Salary: $31.48‑$42.50 per hour

Job Type: Full‑Time

• Under direct supervision, performs maintenance and repair work on town buildings, facilities, landscaped areas, trails, and physical assets including painting, plumbing, carpentry, minor electrical, HVAC, irrigation, landscaping, trail maintenance, snow and ice removal, and related tasks.
• Performs work in all weather conditions, both independently and as part of a team.
• Removes snow and ice from town streets and maintains safe passage of public, school buses, and emergency vehicles.
• Maintains accurate logs and records of work performed and materials used.
• Observes safe work methods and uses required safety equipment.
• Receives and responds to service calls and resident complaints, investigating and resolving issues as appropriate.

• Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
• Basic mechanical and construction knowledge.
• Willingness to learn, take initiative, and work outdoors in all weather.
• Team‑oriented mindset with good communication skills.
• Practical knowledge of painting, plumbing, carpentry, minor electrical, HVAC, irrigation, landscaping, and trail maintenance.
• Experience with hand and power tools, vehicles, and light to heavy equipment.
• Ability to read schematics, drawings, and specifications related to maintenance work.
• Ability to maintain a variety of filing, record‑keeping, and tracking systems.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate motor vehicles.
• Physical ability to perform medium to heavy work, including lifting, carrying, and operating equipment.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Approximately one (1) year of experience performing general maintenance and repair work.

• Requires mobility to work in and around buildings and in the field; strength, stamina, and mobility for medium to heavy physical work.
• Ability to climb, kneel, bend, stoop, and squat; operate hand and power tools and light to heavy equipment.
• Exposure to loud noise, weather extremes, chemicals, mechanical and electrical hazards, and hazardous substances.
• Capability to lift, carry, push, pull materials weighing fifty (50) pounds or heavier with proper equipment.
• Occasional overtime, weekend, or shift work may be required.
