Description

AAA Roadside Assistance
  • Respond promptly to dispatched AAA roadside assistance calls.
  • Contact members prior to arrival to verify:
    • Exact vehicle location
    • Vehicle concern
    • Tow destination
    • Number of passengers
  • Perform roadside services including:
    • Vehicle towing
    • Jump starts
    • Flat tire changes
    • Fuel delivery
    • Vehicle lockouts
    • Battery testing and replacement (when qualified)
  • Follow all AAA service standards and operating procedures.
  • Accurately complete all required steps within the dispatch software and mobile applications used by the company.
Towing & Recovery
  • Safely operate flatbed and wheel-lift tow trucks.
  • Properly secure and transport vehicles without causing damage.
  • Load, unload, and transport vehicles using approved towing techniques.
  • Perform basic winching and recoveries within company policy and training.
  • Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after transport.
  • Document pre-existing damage.
Customer Service
  • Provide courteous, professional service during every customer interaction.
  • Explain services and charges when applicable.
  • Maintain a calm and professional demeanor during stressful roadside situations.
  • Represent the company in a positive and professional manner.
Safety
  • Follow all OSHA, California, CHP, FMCSA, and company safety requirements.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Utilize proper traffic control procedures while working roadside.
  • Immediately report accidents, injuries, equipment failures, and safety concerns.
  • Operate company vehicles safely at all times.
Equipment Responsibilities
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Keep assigned truck clean, fueled, and ready for service.
  • Maintain inventory of required equipment and supplies.
  • Report maintenance issues immediately.
Documentation
  • Complete electronic call records accurately.
  • Record payments when applicable.
  • Obtain required customer signatures.
  • Submit required paperwork before the end of each shift.
Qualifications Required
  • Minimum 25 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, and on-call shifts as scheduled.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to safely operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
  • Ability to use smartphones, GPS navigation, dispatch software, and electronic documentation systems.
Preferred
  • Previous towing or roadside assistance experience.
  • AAA roadside assistance experience.
  • CHP Tow Operator certification.
  • Automotive repair or mechanical experience.
  • Commercial Driver License (CDL) (not required for all positions).
  • ASE certifications or vocational automotive training.
Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

  • Lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Frequently push, pull, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and crawl.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Work safely near moving traffic on highways and mountain roads.
  • Enter and exit tow trucks multiple times throughout each shift.
Work Environment

Drivers routinely work:

  • On Interstate 80 and surrounding highways.
  • In mountain communities throughout the Truckee/Tahoe region.
  • During snowstorms, chain control, and severe weather.
  • During nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency situations.
  • In high-traffic and hazardous roadside environments.

Drivers are expected to:

  • Maintain excellent customer service.

  • Follow dispatch instructions promptly.
  • Comply with AAA performance standards and service expectations.
  • Complete calls accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
  • Protect company equipment and customer vehicles.
  • Participate in required meetings and ongoing training.

  • Basic automotive diagnostics.

Compensation
  • Hourly, non-exempt position.
  • Overtime paid in accordance with California labor laws.
