Public Accountant - Audit & Tax

Location: Trumbull, CT
Job Type: Full-Time, Temporary-to-Permanent
Salary: $38-45/hour depending on experience

A well-established public accounting firm is seeking a mid-level Public Accountant to join its team. This position will support a variety of audit, tax, and accounting engagements while working directly with clients across different industries.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, and other tax returns
• Assist with financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations
• Prepare work papers, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Perform account analysis and research accounting and tax issues
• Work directly with clients to gather information and resolve questions
• Assist with year-end close and other accounting projects as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable standards and deadlines

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3+ years of public accounting experience
• Experience with both audit and tax preferred
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax regulations
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/tax software
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines
• CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus
