General Statement of Duties:

  • Verifies, processes and updates information and issues certificates of corrections in QDS for personal property, motor vehicles, and exemptions.
  • Updates mailing addresses in CAMA.
  • Responsible for PP CAMA maintenance and processing Personal Property Declarations.
  • Assists with assessment changes in CAMA granted by the BAA.
  • Addresses questions from the public and departmental inquiries related to parcel and ownership records, GIS maps or recorded maps, field cards, abutters’ lists, personal property assessments, and other statutory requirements such as Board of Assessment Appeals and income and expense forms.
  • Implements state/local programs and exemptions and completes other state mandates and administrative duties related to personal, motor vehicle and/or real property.
  • Supervision Received:

    Works under the direction of the Tax Assessor or his/her designee.

    Additional General Duties:
  • Supervises and trains staff as needed.
  • Copies, scans and collates materials and performs other office tasks.
  • Prepares routine forms and correspondence.
  • Assists in updating the Assessor’s web page.
  • Assists in inventory management and supplies ordering.
  • Operates various office machines including calculators, copiers, faxes and computers.

    Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED and three (3) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Expected to pursue continued education to stay updated on legislative changes.
  • Working knowledge of Vision Government Solutions and Quality Data System is highly desirable.
  • Work performed shall be in accordance with State Statute where applicable.
  • Thorough knowledge of office terminology, procedures, equipment, business arithmetic and English.
  • Knowledge of office regulations and modern clerical account keeping practices.
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written directions.
  • Ability to make minor decisions in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations and established policies.
  • Effective oral and written communication; ability to plan and supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to work effectively with the public and co-workers.
