We’re hiring for:
Multiple part-time positions, Monday – Friday from 3:30 pm – 7:30 pm, with additional daytime availability during school breaks and summer vacation. There is also potential for increased or full-time hours in the future.
Position Summary
The Behavior Technician (BT) provides direct, individualized behavioral services to individuals served by The Kennedy Collective diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities across clinic, home, school, community-based, and other assigned service settings. Under the direction and supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or other qualified clinical leadership, the Behavior Technician implements individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) treatment plans, teaches functional communication, social, adaptive, and daily living skills, utilizes evidence-based behavioral interventions, collects and documents accurate treatment data, and provides ongoing feedback regarding individual progress.
The Behavior Technician creates engaging, motivating, and supportive learning environments that promote skill acquisition, independence, positive behavior change, and an enhanced quality of life while ensuring services are delivered in accordance with ethical standards, Connecticut regulations, agency policies, and individualized treatment goals.
Core Competencies
- Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Implementation:
Implements individualized treatment plans and behavior intervention strategies with fidelity under the supervision of a BCBA or qualified clinical leader, utilizing evidence-based ABA principles to promote meaningful skill acquisition and behavior change. - Skill Acquisition & Behavior Support:
Teaches communication, social, adaptive, self-help, play, and functional living skills while implementing proactive and reactive behavior support strategies that foster independence and positive outcomes. - Data Collection & Clinical Documentation:
Accurately collects behavioral and skill acquisition data, documents services provided, and communicates observations regarding individual progress to support clinical decision-making and treatment planning. - Person-Centered Care & Family
Collaboration:
Provides individualized, compassionate, and culturally responsive services that respect the dignity, preferences, and goals of each individual while collaborating effectively with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members. - Health, Safety & Therapeutic Environment:
Maintains a safe, structured, and engaging therapeutic environment by following health and safety procedures, implementing crisis or behavior support plans as trained, and promoting the physical and emotional well-being of individuals served. - Professionalism & Ethical Practice:
Demonstrates integrity, accountability, confidentiality, and ethical decision-making while maintaining compliance with the BACB Ethics Code (as applicable), Connecticut regulations, payer requirements, and The Kennedy Collective's policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Behavior Technician Functions
- Provide direct one-to-one Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to individuals served in accordance with individualized treatment plans, promoting meaningful skill acquisition, independence, and improved quality of life.
- Implement individualized treatment plans, behavior intervention plans, teaching procedures, and skill acquisition programs developed by the supervising Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or qualified clinical leadership.
- Teach communication, social, adaptive, self-help, play, functional living, and other developmentally appropriate skills using evidence-based ABA strategies and positive reinforcement techniques.
- Utilize approved antecedent and behavior reduction strategies to promote positive behavior while responding appropriately to challenging behaviors using approved intervention techniques and agency protocols.
- Collect, record, and maintain accurate behavioral and skill acquisition data during each therapy session to support clinical decision-making and treatment planning.
