Role Overview
Sodexo Corporate Services is seeking a Microbiology Lab Technician to support a Consumer Goods Client in Trumbull, CT. In this role you will conduct microbiological analysis of cosmetic raw materials and finished products in a BSL-2 laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with standard microbiological methods, including aseptic technique, microbial identification, media preparation, pipetting, and growth promotion testing.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to succeed in a fast‑paced, collaborative team environment while managing multiple priorities. A background in microbiology is strongly preferred. This is a full‑time, on‑site position (40 hours/week).
- Conduct bench‑level microbiological testing, including Microbial Content and Preservative Challenge Testing, on both OTC and non‑OTC formulations, while following all safety protocols.
- Perform method validations such as Total Viable Count with Enrichment across various product categories, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Record and analyze test results, including plate counts and colony enumeration, using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Prepare microbiological media, manage inoculum preparation for challenge testing, and operate autoclaves for sterilization and waste disposal.
- Maintain lab cleanliness, ensure proper handling of materials, and adhere to biosafety standards within a BSL-2 environment.
- Support lab operations by preparing isolates for identification, monitoring inventory, and restocking microbiological supplies as needed.

What You Bring- Minimum of two years of post‑secondary education, preferably in biological sciences.
- One to two years of hands‑on laboratory experience, ideally in an industrial or microbiology contract lab setting.
- Familiarity with standard microbiological methods, including aseptic technique and media preparation, is preferred.
- Strong communication skills—verbal, written, and electronic—are essential for effective collaboration and documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with the ability to write clear, technical reports.
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and capable of working independently in a fast‑paced lab environment.
