Position: Quality Inspector (Aerospace/Precision Manufacturing)

Quality Inspector-Manufacturing Upper Fairfield County, CT | Direct Hire | 1st Shift | Competitive Pay

Can you do more than find a bad part—can you figure out why it's wrong and help drive the issue through resolution? We want to talk to you. We are recruiting for a hands-on Quality Inspector within a precision manufacturing environment. The core responsibility is quality inspection, but this position goes well beyond checking a part against a print and issuing a pass/fail decision.

The ideal inspector combines strong technical inspection skills with mechanical curiosity, independent problem-solving and the ownership to stay involved from the moment an issue is identified until it is understood and resolved.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Perform in-process and final inspection of precision-manufactured components.
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T requirements and dimensional tolerances.
  • Complete and support First Article Inspections (FAIs) and required quality documentation.
  • Use precision measurement tools and inspection equipment to verify product conformance.
  • Identify and document nonconforming product and independently investigate potential causes.
  • Work directly with machinists, Engineering and Production to understand quality issues and determine next steps.
  • Follow quality problems from identification through resolution rather than simply handing them off.
  • Support shop-floor troubleshooting and cross-functional problem-solving when needed.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Hands-on precision manufacturing quality inspection experience.
  • Strong blueprint and engineering drawing interpretation skills.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and First Article Inspection requirements.
  • Experience with precision measurement tools/equipment and tight-tolerance components.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to independently identify, investigate and communicate quality problems.
  • Comfort working directly with machinists, engineers and production personnel on the shop floor.
  • Root-cause/problem-solving mentality with strong ownership and follow-through.
  • Aerospace experience is a plus, but NOT required.
  • Candidates from medical device, CNC machining, automotive, tooling, precision metal and other tight-tolerance manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply.
THE RIGHT FIT

This is not an inspection-only role for someone who prefers to stay within the boundaries of Quality. The strongest candidate is curious about how and why a part was made, wants to understand what caused a problem and is comfortable collaborating across departments to get it resolved. If your mindset is “I found the problem—now let's figure out why it happened and make sure it gets resolved,” this opportunity could be an excellent fit.
