Position Type: 6 month contract with additional opportunity contingent upon performance and continued business need

Compensation: $25/HR

Responsibilities
  • The Associate Scientist works closely with a team of scientists and senior scientists to plan and perform laboratory assignments in the development of product formulations, measurement of physical properties, validation of performance and analysis of products.
  • Draw conclusions based on data, propose and direct next steps in the development plan and drive development activities.
  • Function as part of an integrated cross‑functional team.
  • Execute experimental designs to optimize prototypes to meet desired performance metrics.
  • Record detailed observations and data from experiments performed. Keep lab notebook records current and in good order as a working legal document.
  • Draw preliminary conclusions and present to management.
  • Contribute to the solution of assigned problems through development/modification of test procedures.
  • Run standard and non‑standard chemical, physical, or application tests to obtain data to evaluate composition of products.
  • Check and maintain inventories of raw materials and supplies and maintain work spaces.
  • Ensure safe working conditions (handle dangerous equipment and hazardous chemicals). Observe safe work practices, keep equipment neat, clean and in safe operating condition, and maintain good housekeeping standards.
  • Follow all applicable Federal, State, and Local health, safety, and environmental regulations, as per corporate health, safety and environmental policies.
Qualifications
  • Four year college degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, or related field.
  • 0-3 years experience working in a laboratory.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and ability to balance multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to understand and carry out standard laboratory techniques.
  • Basic computer skills including intermediate ability to use Microsoft Excel.
  • Formulating experience in consumer packaged goods and advanced knowledge of laundry and textiles is a plus.
