Registered Nurse - Oncology

Position Overview:

This role is within the Oncology department, based at UAB St. Vincent's East, and involves full-time night shifts (7pm-7am). The unit, 5 East, is a 22-bed facility specializing in cancer care and medical-surgical patients with conditions like pneumonia, COPD, CHF, and diabetes, as well as performing procedures such as biopsies, EGDs, lithotripsy, and cholecystectomies.

• Coordinate staffing and lead nursing/support staff, ensuring clinical objectives and quality patient care are met.
• Assign, educate, monitor staff, and contribute to performance evaluations.
• Assess patient care needs, develop care plans, and ensure appropriate care delivery.
• Evaluate patient outcomes and address issues impacting care quality.
• Respond to patient care concerns and manage through established channels.
• Assist with hiring, training, and staff development as needed.

• Current RN licensure in Alabama.
• BLS certification within 1 month of hire; ACLS and PALS may be required within 6 months.
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
