Job SummaryWe are seeking motivated, adaptable, detail-oriented candidates with previous payroll experience to join our dynamic, high-volume, weekly-processing team. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, distribution, and reconciliation of payroll and the administration of the payroll system in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations and in compliance with Sarbanes‑Oxley standards.
Minimum Qualifications- A working knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping processes, at a level normally acquired through an associate degree in business administration or accounting.
- 2 years experience in payroll.
- Experience with certified payroll.
- Certified Payroll Professional certificate.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations regarding payroll.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge in the use of Adobe PDF and advanced knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with internal and external customers.
- Accurate punctuation, spelling, and grammar skills are essential.
- Must maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.
- Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Responsible for timecard review and verification.
- Responsible for reconciling computation of pay and associated deductions for accuracy.
- Administers and maintains payroll database and employee payroll files.
- Responsible for reconciling payroll data and timecards to ensure they are in accordance and reported by company policy and/or current labor agreement.
- Assists employees with questions about payroll and other payroll related issues. Ensures payroll issues are escalated and resolved promptly.
- Assists in preparing control documents for the use in reconciling payroll transactions.
- Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.
- $28 to $30 per hour, DOE.
