As an Electrical Project Engineer you may serve as a technical specialist or project lead on substation projects up to 765 kV.
- Coordinate project activities, provide guidance, and deliver expertise.
- Lead detailed design and EPC support for high‑voltage substation projects.
- Produce protection and control deliverables: relay panels, diagrams, schematics, wiring.
- Create physical design deliverables: yard layouts, grounding, lightning protection, power systems.
- Review and oversee electrical substation design quality.
- Mentor junior team members.
- Prepare equipment specifications and bills of materials.
- Communicate with clients, vendors, subcontractors and stakeholders.
- Present proposals, designs and project updates.
- Travel to client and project sites for design reviews and field verification.
- Manage design budgets and schedules.
- Support business development initiatives.
- Develop and apply design knowledge, provide guidance on standards and B&V policies.
- Ensure compliance with B&V quality programs and support continuous improvement.
- Prepare engineering deliverables for large projects; research equipment and materials.
- Manage budget, schedule, and quality for assigned projects.
- Lead production teams, coordinate multiple disciplines, and hold project ownership.
- Coordinate with internal and external teams on moderately complex projects.
- Identify client interests and incorporate them into project plans.
- Provide consultation, guidance, and mentorship in technical practices.
- Assist with performance management, mentoring, and succession planning.
- Assist with resource management strategy and engineering resources for small groups.
- Support compliance with corporate and division programs; approve timesheets and expense reports.
- High‑voltage substation design experience (physical and/or protection & controls).
- Project lead and technical specialist experience with utility substation projects.
- QA/QC review experience.
- Strong coordination and communication skills with clients and multidisciplinary leads.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years related engineering work experience.
- Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background checks, drug screen, motor vehicle records).
- Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer‑of‑record requirements for BV projects where applicable.
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion, performance, and assignments.
