Civil Associate Engineering Technician - Underground Transmission
Location: Tualatin, Oregon (no exceptions)
OverviewThe Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Associate Engineering Technician performs technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices in support of creating or modifying deliverables. This role develops plan & profile deliverables using Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley Micro Station, within the Distributed Infrastructure (Grid) solution, supporting underground transmission line projects. Basic Civil 3D experience is required with knowledge of alignments, plan/profile, and sections.
Onsite 5 days/week - Temp to perm. This is a contract role with intent to convert to permanent, based on performance.
Responsibilities- Supports engineering teams under general supervision.
- Performs technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
- Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling).
- Creates, updates, and maintains technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.
- Begins providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering technicians.
- Stay current on applicable standards, systems, document control practices, departmental guides, BV policies and procedures.
- Apply knowledge of the BV Quality Program to ensure accurate, compliant deliverables.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail while supporting continuous improvement and change management initiatives.
- Use and expand applications and tools to evaluate and improve methods, processes, and procedures.
- Create and develop project deliverables based on a variety of design inputs.
- Perform basic computations, including material quantity estimates and dimensional checks.
- Coordinate deliverables with other project groups to minimize errors and interferences.
- Support internal client needs while developing an understanding of external client priorities and drivers.
- Proactively seek out, share, and apply knowledge of new technologies and evolving processes.
- Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley Micro Station.
- Development of plan and profile deliverables using Autodesk Civil 3D.
- Basic Civil 3D experience with knowledge of alignments, plan/profile, and sections.
- Continues to learn and remains current on standards, systems, document control, departmental guides and BV/B&V policies and procedures.
- Begins to proactively apply knowledge of the BV Quality Program to ensure that the deliverables are accurate and compliant.
- Demonstrates personal accuracy and supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
- Broadening the use of applications to learn to continuously evaluate and improve methods, processes, and procedures used to accomplish deliverables.
- May perform basic computations such as material quantity estimates and dimensional checks.
- Assist in coordinating deliverables with other groups involved on the same project to minimize interference or errors.
- Focuses on the needs of internal clients while gaining basic understanding of external client s main interests and drivers.
- Proactively seeks and shares knowledge of latest technologies and processes.
