POSITION DESCRIPTION
This is a Staff Product Engineering role within the RF Power Group of Supplier Engineering and Technology (SET). The RF Power SET team focuses on innovation and problem‑solving across RF power systems, including manufacturing, testing, quality, and supplier performance.
OPPORTUNITYThis role offers the opportunity to make significant contributions to product engineering processes supporting the development and manufacturing of wafer fabrication equipment (WFE) used by leading semiconductor companies worldwide.
Lam systems enable advanced plasma etching, deposition, and wafer cleaning at atomic‑layer precision. These systems integrate:
- Automated materials handling
- Chemical and gas delivery systems
- Atmospheric and temperature control systems
- Ultraclean and vacuum technologies
- Proprietary hardware and software control systems
RF power generators, matching networks, distribution systems, and filters are critical to system reliability. These components are supplied by a global network of specialized suppliers and contract manufacturers managed by the RF Power Group within SQAD Engineering.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESThe Staff Product Engineer will:
- Apply semiconductor equipment expertise to resolve technical and quality issues across the product lifecycle, with a focus on new product introduction (NPI)
- Utilize experience in quality systems, engineering design, documentation, product qualification, and change control (EC processes)
- Lead program/project and supplier management activities, including:
- Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA)
- Supplier quality systems and Processes of Record (POR)
- Manufacturing and test process improvements
- BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or RF Power Engineering
- 10+ years of relevant experience, including:
- Semiconductor equipment system and component‑level troubleshooting
- High‑power RF systems (multi‑kilowatt, 1–60 MHz)
- Transmission line theory, impedance matching, RF measurement, and calibration
- Analog and digital circuits, including hardware/software interactions
- Experience with PCB assembly, inspection, and testing (preferred)
- Knowledge of quality and statistical tools:
- SPC, Cpk, DOE, GR&R (MSA), 5‑Why, 8D, Ishikawa
- Familiarity with industry standards:
- SEMI S2, OSHA, ISO 9000/14000, RoHS, UL, IEEE, MIL, IPC 610/620
- Hands‑on experience with electrical test equipment:
- DMM, LCR meters, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, TDR, spectrum analyzers
- Experience with electro‑mechanical assembly and manufacturing processes
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Experience across the full product lifecycle:
- Specification → Manufacturing → Assembly → Test → Integration → Support
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentations
- Proven ability to work in cross‑functional teams (CFTs)
