The impact you’ll makeAs a Product Safety Engineer at Lam Research, you will independently drive product safety activities for semiconductor capital equipment. You will work directly with design engineering, manufacturing, and field teams to ensure safety requirements are defined, implemented, and sustained throughout the product lifecycle.
This role requires strong systems-level thinking - analyzing complex equipment, identifying hazards, and driving design improvements that protect personnel, the environment, and the system. You will apply industry standards and regulatory frameworks to ensure products meet global safety requirements while aligning with customer expectations.
What you’ll do- Independently perform system-level hazard analysis and risk assessments, and drive implementation of mitigation strategies
- Apply and interpret industry and regulatory requirements such as SEMI S2, CE Marking directives, and NFPA standards to support product compliance and certification
- Identify design risks across electrical, mechanical, chemical, and ergonomic domains, and partner with engineering teams to resolve them
- Participate in and influence design reviews to ensure safety requirements are incorporated early and effectively
- Resolve product safety issues from internal reviews, field feedback, and third-party evaluations
- Interface with third-party certification agencies to support safety assessments and closure of findings
- Review and develop maintenance and service procedures to ensure safe operation and servicing of equipment
- Partner with account teams and field organizations to support customer confidence in product safety
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
- ~5-10 years of experience applying safety standards and hazard analysis in semiconductor capital equipment or similar complex large equipment systems
- Demonstrated ability to independently analyze systems and identify hazards across electrical, mechanical, and chemical domains
- Experience working with third-party certification bodies and driving closure of compliance gaps
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and field teams
