Electrical Engineer – Substation Design
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer – Substation Design to join a leading engineering team in the energy and utilities sector. This full-time position offers the opportunity to lead and support substation projects up to 765kV, encompassing both physical and protection & control (P&C) design elements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support substation projects (69kV–765kV), including layouts, schematics, and detailed design.
- Develop drawings, wiring diagrams, grounding systems, relay panel layouts, and auxiliary power systems.
- Perform QA/QC reviews of design packages, ensuring adherence to technical standards and project requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and oversee technical deliverables.
- Coordinate with clients, internal teams, and vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Prepare engineering budgets, schedules, construction specifications, and procurement documents.
- Support business development, proposal preparation, and client presentations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (required).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in high-voltage substation design (69kV and above) for a U.S. power utility.
- Project Lead or Technical Specialist experience.
- Strong background in QA/QC and client coordination.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $120,000 – $210,000 per year (commensurate with experience and location)
