This role is in the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) group at Lam Research's Tualatin, OR campus.

At Lam, as an EH&S Engineer, you're instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs and policies. Ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and SEMI regulations, you'll perform safety inspections, conduct training sessions, and oversee manufacturing, logistics, and lab processes. Your expertise extends to life safety, workplace ergonomics, and monitoring industrial health compliance. Acting as a liaison with regulatory agencies, you'll not only stay current but also reinforce Lam's commitment to safety and environmental compliance.

Job Responsibilities

This role in the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) group is responsible for executing the EHS programs at Lam Research's Tualatin campus. Responsibilities extend to participating in the development of EHS standards for Lam Research. Other EHS-related functions include supporting equipment design reviews, hazard assessments, participating in the emergency response program, and conducting EHS-related training.

Job Responsibilities
  • Review research, development, and construction plans for compliance with corporate EHS requirements and regulatory standards, and provide guidance to engineering and operations teams.
  • Evaluate product, equipment, facility, and infrastructure changes to ensure EHS requirements are incorporated into designs and projects.
  • Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyze EHS performance metrics and trends to drive continuous improvement initiatives, goals, and objectives.
  • Partner with managers and employees to strengthen safety culture and improve safe work practices.
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments for manufacturing, laboratory, and operational activities.
  • Review new and existing product, equipment, and process designs and recommend safety improvements.
  • Conduct industrial hygiene exposure assessments, including noise, lighting, and non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation monitoring.
  • Review new chemical requests and changes in chemical use, providing guidance on PPE, risk reduction measures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Work independently and collaboratively across global teams to solve complex EHS challenges and maintain expertise in emerging EHS regulations and best practices.
  • Participate in manufacturing activities, including ergonomic evaluations, safety coaching, and wellness/stretching programs.
  • Perform fall protection assessments and provide guidance for working-at-heights activities.
  • Partner with employees, managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure effective implementation and sustainability of EHS programs.
  • Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team, including responding to incidents, working in potentially hazardous environments, providing first aid as needed, standing for extended periods, and lifting equipment up to 30 pounds.
Who we’re looking for
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, safety, ergonomics, science, or an engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an EHS-related role.
  • Existing understanding of OSHA regulatory and industry safety standards.
  • Highly competent with Microsoft Office products (Excel, SharePoint).
  • Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building capabilities.
Preferred qualifications
  • MS degree in safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, environmental science, or an engineering discipline.
  • CSP or CPE certification.
  • Experience with ergonomics and human factors design.
  • Experience in the high-tech industry.
