Description
Ascentec Engineering is hiring an expeditor for our Tualatin, Oregon location. The expeditor will track and coordinate routing steps for high-precision components throughout our semiconductor machine shop. This role ensures that parts move through production in a timely, efficient, and traceable manner, aligning with customer delivery requirements. The expeditor will function as the communication bridge between production, planning, quality, and management teams.
This position is on-site at our Tualatin headquarters and not eligible for Visa sponsorship or transfer of Visa sponsorship.
Requirements- Monitors the progress of parts across all production stages to ensure timely completion.
- Maintains and updates routing progress using the company's ERP system (Epicor Kinetic Software)
- Acts as the point of contact for real-time status updates on work orders and jobs.
- Collaborates daily with machinists, quality technicians, planners, and leadership to identify bottlenecks or delays.
- Escalates issues affecting lead time and delivery commitments with urgency and clarity.
- Verifies that all required documentation and inspections are complete at each routing step.
- Proactively identifies opportunities to streamline workflow and eliminate idle time.
- Participates in daily production meetings, providing updates and identifying areas of concern.
- Tracks and reports on KPI’s (Key Performance Metrics) such as throughput time, WIP aging, and on-time completion.
- Ensures parts are prioritized in alignment with customer requirements and internal delivery schedules.
- Interacts with multiple departments and levels of the organization daily. Effective communication across all levels is essential to the success of this role.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required, an associate's degree in manufacturing, logistics, or business is preferred
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment, strong preference for experience in the semiconductor industry.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g. Oracle, SAP, Epicor, etc.).
- Prior background in scheduling, planning, or production coordination.
- Understanding of ISO 9001, AS 9100, or similar quality systems.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows, part routing, and shop floor operations.
- Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and job tracking tools (e.g., Epicor, SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Familiarity with inspection, quality checkpoints, and documentation requirements
- Working knowledge of semiconductors or precision machining environments is preferred.
- Awareness of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to relay priorities and issues.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and other data entry/reporting tools.
- Capable of multitasking and handling shifting priorities with minimal supervision.
- Skilled in identifying bottlenecks and proposing solutions proactively.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and foster collaboration between departments.
- Interpret routing sheets, work order travelers, and basic technical drawings.
- Self-directed and capable of managing workload independently in a dynamic environment.
- Comfortable walking the shop floor and interacting with individuals in both technical and non-technical roles.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure when facing tight deadlines or escalations.
- Office and Shop Floor Environment.
- Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events.
- After-hours and weekend work is required on an occasional basis.
- Regularly spends time on the production floor; requires walking, standing, and occasionally lifting parts or materials (up to 25 lbs.).
