Fiber Optic Assembler
We are seeking skilled Fiber Optic Assemblers with experience in manufacturing or production environments. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with small parts, wires, and cables, and will receive training on photonic cable assembly specifics. Proficiency in English reading, writing, and speaking is required.
Responsibilities- Follow established assembly instructions for fiber optic cables and products.
- Maintain a minimum standard quota for job assignments.
- Comply with all safety requirements and company policies.
- Obtain intermediate-level understanding of assembly tools and their use.
- Identify components and gain product knowledge at an entry level.
- Measure using standard and metric tools with available conversions.
- Perform tasks accurately to ensure quality products.
- Report any irregularities to the Production Supervisor or management.
- Use basic problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues, initiating constructive change.
- 1+ year of manufacturing experience, preferably in small part assembly.
- Experience using hand tools.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Ability to work on Fridays and Saturdays for 5-8 hours.
Skills & Qualifications
- Good manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination.
- High attention to detail.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Basic measurement skills using standard and metric systems.
- Effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to reason and analyze.
- ITAR compliant.
The company is involved in exciting R&D projects for the military, offering intriguing opportunities for those eager to learn. With three levels of assemblers, employees can progress to higher pay rates. Contractors may receive pay increases upon conversion if they advance levels.
Work EnvironmentThe work takes place in a clean manufacturing environment focusing on fiber optics for government and private customers. Employees will wear a basic gown similar to a lab coat in a clean room setting. The shift runs from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday, with frequent overtime on Fridays.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tualatin, OR.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
