Position Summary
The Quality Technician for the DMR area is responsible for managing the Material Review Board process, ensuring timely and accurate disposition of nonconforming materials and products. This role acts as a liaison between Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to drive resolution of quality issues, maintain compliance with internal procedures and external standards, and support continuous improvement initiatives. As well this position plays a key role in supporting the quality assurance function for electronic components and assemblies, investigating nonconforming materials, and performing root cause analysis.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and facilitate MRB meetings to review and disposition nonconforming materials.
- Maintain accurate records of MRB activities, including NCRs (Nonconformance Reports), dispositions, and corrective actions.
- Ensure timely processing of nonconforming material to minimize production delays.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain) to determine root cause and appropriate disposition (rework, use-as-is, scrap, return to vendor).
- Track and report MRB metrics and trends to support quality improvement efforts.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001), and customer requirements.
- Support internal and external audits related to MRB and nonconformance processes.
- Inspect and evaluate electronic components and assemblies for conformance to specifications.
- Support MRB (Material Review Board) activities by preparing documentation, coordinating meetings, and tracking dispositions.
- Help to perform root cause analysis on quality issues using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and Pareto analysis.
- Assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and verify effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and quality investigations.
- Support internal audits and customer quality requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and quality system enhancements.
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Engineering, Quality, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in quality assurance, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
- Familiarity with MRB processes, nonconformance handling, and root cause analysis.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in ERP and quality management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar.
- Knowledge of ESD handling
- Working knowledge of GD&T, and technical drawings
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, or medical device industries.
- Proficiency in using measurement tools, microscopes, and inspection equipment.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, IPC standards, or similar quality frameworks.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
ESD Handling, Electronic Equipment Testing, and skills working with other QA Engrs.
