Eaton’s IS VEH EMB division is currently seeking a Sr. Quality Engineer. This is a full time, on‑site position at our Tualatin, OR manufacturing facility.

The Senior Quality Engineer is the primary quality resource for the site, responsible for ensuring product and process quality across all manufacturing operations. This hands‑on role covers process, customer, and supplier quality topics, and manages the tactical execution of the plant’s quality objectives. The engineer will collaborate closely with the plant manager and receive quality system direction and functional support from the Tijuana, MX site’s quality manager.

Expected annual salary range: $86,000 - $126,000 a year. Salary is a general guideline and may vary based on skills, experience, and qualifications.

What you’ll do:
  • Quality System & Compliance
    • Maintain and improve the site’s Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with EQMS, ISO 9001/IATF 16949 and customer requirements.
    • Lead and coordinate internal, customer, and third‑party audits; manage audit readiness and corrective actions.
    • Develop, implement, and update quality procedures, work instructions, and standards.
    • Administer the corrective action system, including root cause analysis and verification of effectiveness.
  • Process Quality
    • Monitor and improve manufacturing processes using statistical methods (SPC, process capability studies, pFMEA, control plans).
    • Lead problem‑solving activities (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa) for process and product issues.
    • Support process improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S).
    • Monitor MRB KPI actions.
  • Customer Quality
    • Support customer quality concerns, complaints, and audits.
    • Ensure timely resolution of customer issues and implementation of corrective actions.
    • Review and interpret customer specifications, contracts, and requirements.
  • Supplier Quality
    • Manage supplier quality activities, including supplier audits, performance monitoring, and corrective actions.
    • Process PPAPs and ensure incoming materials and components meet quality standards.
    • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and drive improvements.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Prepare and maintain quality documentation (quality manuals, procedures, reports).
    • Analyze quality metrics and trends; recommend and implement improvement actions.
    • Support the preparation of QA reports for management and customers.
  • Training & Leadership
    • Train and mentor plant staff on quality procedures, tools, and standards.
    • Provide technical support to operations, customers, and suppliers.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and shared accountability for quality.
Qualifications
  • Required

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
    • Minimum 3 years experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
    • Candidate must reside within a 50‑mile radius of Tualatin, OR (active duty military service members exempt).
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
    • Five years experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
    • Experience with ISO 9001/IATF 16949 quality systems.
    • Experience in power electronics or related industries.
    • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar certification.
    • Experience with supplier quality management and internal auditing.
    • Proficiency with MS Office and statistical analysis tools.
    • Lean/Six Sigma certification or experience.
Skills
  • Strong organizational, communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a matrix environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
