Facilities Specialist
Job Description
This role provides hands-on facilities maintenance and general handyman support for an assigned site through the end of March 2027. You will perform weekly and monthly preventive maintenance, respond to maintenance needs, and help ensure the facility remains safe, secure, and well-maintained. The position follows a Monday Friday daytime schedule and focuses on HVAC troubleshooting, mechanical systems, plumbing, and general building upkeep.
Responsibilities- Monitor the facility regularly to ensure it remains safe, secure, and well-maintained.
- Complete weekly and monthly preventive maintenance tasks on building systems and equipment.
- Troubleshoot HVAC systems, controls, and related mechanical systems to identify and resolve issues.
- Perform general mechanical troubleshooting and repairs on facility equipment and infrastructure.
- Maintain and repair plumbing systems as needed, including basic plumbing maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Perform general handyman repairs such as swapping door handles, securing netting, and other miscellaneous tasks.
- Support site closure activities by assisting with miscellaneous tasks related to decommissioning and transition.
- Escort contractors on-site, ensure they follow all required PPE guidelines, and monitor their work as needed.
- Maintain and perform general carpentry work and building upkeep as required.
- Manage and coordinate with vendors for maintenance and repair activities as needed.
- Replace lighting system bulbs, ballasts, and other lighting components as required.
- Move office furniture, machinery, equipment, and other materials as requested to support operations and projects.
- Complete checklists, logs, and maintenance reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Use maintenance management tools, such as Corrigo (if experienced), to document and track work orders and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Work independently to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and respond to maintenance needs.
- 24 years of experience in facilities maintenance or a closely related role.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated experience in HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills for building systems and equipment.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on facility systems.
- Working knowledge of plumbing systems and basic plumbing repairs.
- Basic knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills to interact with contractors, vendors, and site personnel.
- Ability to complete checklists, logs, and reports accurately and on time.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Corrigo or similar computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) certification or prior experience operating PIT equipment.
- Experience in HVAC beyond basic troubleshooting, including broader HVAC system knowledge.
- EPA Universal certification related to HVAC work.
- Experience with vendor coordination and oversight.
- General carpentry skills for facility repairs and maintenance.
- Experience working in environments that require adherence to PPE and safety protocols.
