Navajo Preference Employment Act

Position

Summary

This position serves as an oncologist and hematologist at the Specialty Care Center. The service is supported by a nurse practitioner, pharmacist, and clinical nurses. The care model allows for flexibility through virtual telehealth and in‑person care. The patient panel involves medical care services for adult patients. The incumbent is responsible for multi‑disciplinary care plans designed to treat cancers with focused care in the following disease sites: breast, gynecologic malignancies, GI system, and GU system.

Qualifications
  • Education
    • A Medical Degree, MD or DO
    • Completion of a three (3) year residency program in Internal Medicine
    • Completion of fellowship in Hematology/Oncology
    • Board Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine
  • License Must possess and maintain a current and unrestricted license to practice as a physician in any state within the United States, District of Columbia or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
  • Credentialing Additional credentialing/privileging qualifications required for membership to the Medical Staff.
  • Other Skills And Abilities
    • A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references.
    • Positive working relationships, high ethical standards and no history of complaints.
    • Reliable, dependable and punctual workplace attendance.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Successful completion of background, reference, fingerprint clearance, physical examinations and other screenings.
    • Submission of all required employment‑related documents without false or incomplete information.
Mental and Physical Effort Physical

Incumbent must have ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, maintain balance, reach, kneel, crouch, twist, lecture lift, push and pull up to 10lbs while performing required tasks. Sensory requirements include vision, hearing, and telephone use.

Must cope with high stress, make decisions under pressure, manage emotions, handle multiple priorities, work alone or in close, crowded entice flexibly.

Environmental

Possible exposure to infectious gehen, noise, chemicals, hazardous materials.

Responsibilities Essential Functions
  • Provide comprehensive care for adult patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and monitoring.
  • Conduct outpatient hematologic and oncologic clinics, review medication, diet, therapy, and modify regimens.
  • Handle consultations, examinations, diagnostics, direct prescriptions, and referrals as needed.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures such as scanning, biopsies, and manage administrative duties.
  • Prescribe chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biologic, hormonal, targeted and other systemic therapies; monitor for side effects.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate medical records, coordinate with providers, and ensure follow‑up care.
  • Ensure appropriate PPE use, donning and doffing, and maintain strict infection control protocols.
  • Complete documentation in the electronic health record and participate in workflow and project initiatives.
  • Collaborate with allied health professionals for comprehensive patient care.
