Job Summary
Selectek is partnering with a firm in Tucker, Georgia to hire a Fiber Network Engineer on a contract basis. This assignment is expected to run 12+ months.
Candidates in this role will support planning, design, coordination, testing, and operational oversight for our expanding middle-mile fiber network. This role bridges OSP fiber engineering with network reliability coordination and NOC collaboration.

Contract (12+ Months).
Location:
Tucker, GA. Expected Pay Range: $40- $50 per hour before permanent conversion depending on experience and certification.
- Education:
Preferred - Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems. Master’s Degree in GIS. - Experience:
5 years network design/GIS experience including work with fiber optic plant. Previous utility experience preferred. Experience in GIS, AutoCAD, or other design work preferred. - Equivalent
Experience:
Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology. - Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: UTC Level 1 & 2 – Fiber Optic Designer Certification or equivalent (strongly preferred).
- Specialized
Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent organization, time‑management, analytical and creative problem‑solving, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by the work. - Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.
In addition to these requirements, candidates must be eligible to work in the United States as Selectek is unable to provide sponsorship or work visa documentation.
Job Order DetailsPerforms fiber design functions requiring competencies in project planning, building, and maintaining the company’s fiber optic infrastructure. Independently develops, designs, evaluates, selects, or applies guidelines, procedures, and fiber design techniques and standards in an economically efficient and sound manner. Maintains and updates documentation for fiber optic networks, including inside and outside plants. This position requires a strong understanding of fiber optic infrastructure construction, maintenance, and spatial planning.
Skilled at creating and documenting splice plans for construction projects and updating Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Collaborates with cross‑functional teams including FOC and GSOC Network Engineering to create detailed designs, ensure optimal network performance, and contribute to the successful implementation of fiber optic projects.
