Georgia System Operations Corporation (GSOC) is seeking a Metering and Historian Data Systems Engineer to ensure the reliable flow, accuracy, availability, and security of revenue-grade meter data and operational time-series data used for energy accounting, member billing, settlements, control center operations, and business decision-making.

This role sits at the intersection of electric utility revenue metering, operational technology, historian platforms, data analytics, and system integration. You will support Meter Data Management and historian systems that deliver accurate , timely , and traceable information across GSOC, Georgia Transmission Corporation (GTC), Oglethorpe Power Corporation (OPC), Member Cooperatives, generating plants, and control center teams.

This opportunity is ideal for an engineer who enjoys investigating complex data issues, improving system reliability, supporting critical utility processes, and turning operational data into dependable business and grid insights.

Candidates with deeper utility metering, historian, EMS/SCADA, operational technology, or technical leadership experience may be considered for higher-level classifications (Engineer II, III, IV, or V).

What You'll Do

As a Metering and Historian Data Systems Engineer, you will help maintain the systems, interfaces, data controls, and support processes that enable accurate billing, settlements, energy accounting, operational visibility, and informed decision-making.

You will:

  • Administer, monitor, maintain , and enhance the end-to-end flow of revenue meter data from Remote Revenue Meters through Meter Data Management, Data Systems and Settlements, energy accounting, member billing, and related downstream processes.
  • Help ensure revenue meter data is accurate , complete, timely , available, secure, and traceable.
  • Administer, monitor, maintain , and enhance operational historian data flows from the Energy Management System and generating plants to control center operators, Data Systems and Settlements, Family of Companies customers, and Member Cooperatives.
  • Investigate meter, historian, interface, and processing exceptions by comparing authoritative data sources, identifying anomalies, coordinating corrective action, and documenting resolution.
  • Analyze member load and interval meter data and develop documented correlations, estimates, and load-reconstruction methods when data is temporarily or permanently unavailable.
  • Support monthly member billing and settlement activities by validating revenue-metered data, resolving exceptions within required time frames , and coordinating with stakeholders.
  • Analyze changes to the Georgia Integrated Transmission System, Energy Management System, generating plants, meter configurations, historian tags, and interfaces to validate downstream impacts.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, documentation, and user training for Meter Data Management, IEE/MV-90xi, AVEVA PI System, eDNA, and associated reporting and analytics tools.
  • Maintain operating procedures and incident , change, asset, and configuration records.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate work, strengthen monitoring and data controls, improve reliability and performance, enhance cybersecurity and compliance, and reduce manual intervention.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support critical systems and operational needs.

At advanced levels, this role may also:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for utility metering, historian platforms, EMS/SCADA data flows, settlements, and related operational technology systems.
  • Lead complex investigations, system improvements, integrations, upgrades, data-quality initiatives, and cross-functional technical projects.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, knowledge transfer, and training to team members and stakeholders.
  • Influence technical decisions and drive continuous improvement initiatives that support business and operational objectives .
