Wastewater Operator (2nd Shift)
Full Time – Tucker, GA, US
Job PurposeSupport the plants Wastewater Treatment System, including but not limited to operating and maintaining wastewater primary screening equipment and pre‑treatment equipment.
Essential Functions- Operates and maintains the full wastewater treatment system.
- Operates and interprets results for pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, spectrographic analytical equipment, sampling instruments, and flow instruments in compliance with Dekalb County permit policy.
- Maintains and performs basic maintenance on pumps, motors, aerators, air compressors, pneumatic auxiliaries, belt and chain drive systems, digital and analog controllers and sensors, and electrical components.
- Completes and records maintenance tasks and work orders in a timely manner.
- Manages spare parts inventories accurately and ensures required levels are maintained.
- Maintains wastewater area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Properly stores equipment and tools when not in use.
- Troubleshoots, identifies worn parts, and rebuilds machine assemblies, pumps, meters, valves, valve actuators, and other equipment.
- Participates in facility maintenance and preventive maintenance programs.
- Safely handles chemicals with strict adherence to hazardous communication and SDS requirements.
- Transports totes, drums, and equipment using mobile equipment.
- Performs boiler blow‑down at the close of every shift.
- Complies with all required food safety training, policies, and procedures.
- Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent and ability to read, speak, and write English.
- Minimum of 3+ years of progressive experience as a Wastewater Operator.
- Food manufacturing experience and familiarity.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills with multi‑level personnel.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally and convey complex issues.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain high attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to think quickly and handle frequent change or problems.
- Self‑motivated, goal‑oriented, quality‑driven, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to train and work on various shifts.
- Frequent lifting of 11‑20 lbs. and occasional lifting of 21‑50 lbs. as required.
- Occasional lifting of 51‑100 lbs. while performing maintenance tasks.
- Limited repetitive motion and manual dexterity required for operating equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, and reach overhead during shift duties.
- Work hours include two‑shift rotations, with shifts longer than 8 hours, and weekends.
- Must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Compliance with all company safety programs required.
