Construction Accountant

Description

Our client, in the construction industry, is in need for a Staff Accountant/Project Accountant to join their team on a temp-to-hire basis! The selected candidate will be involved in a variety of tasks such as assisting in preparing monthly financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting procedures, and working closely with the Accounting Manager that the financials are completed timely. Responsibilities:

- Manage daily company finances with accounting systems.

- Communicate regularly with staff on various job-related topics and issues.

Job Costing, Work in Progress calculations

- Participate in the formation and implementation of company financial plans.

- Assist in preparing all monthly financial reports.

- Collaborate with external accounting/financial firms on monthly close-out procedures.

- Provide reporting and budgeting as required by Senior Management.

- Develop and implement written accounting procedures for the operations staff and ensure compliance.

- Work closely with Project Managers on each of their budgets

- Assist in preparing year-end books for audit.

- Ensure operational compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.

- Manage employee credit card charges and reconcile credit card accounts.

- Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts as assigned.

- Assist in reconciling all balance sheet and income statement accounts on a periodic basis as indicated by the monthly closing schedule.

Requirements

- Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably as a Staff Accountant.

- Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management.

- Demonstrated experience in performing Bank Reconciliations.

- Capability to manage and maintain General Ledger.

- Experience in creating and analyzing Journal Entries.

- Familiarity with Month End Close procedures.

- Proficiency in using accounting software

- Knowledge of Construction Accounting principles and practices.

- Experience in Job Cost calculations and reporting.

- Familiarity with WIP - Work In Progress reporting and analysis.
