Take Ownership of the Books -- and Enjoy a Better Workweek

The Morton Company, LLC is seeking an experienced Full-Charge Bookkeeper / Accounting Manager to take ownership of accounting, payroll, financial reporting, and related administrative functions for our three collision repair centers and associated supporting businesses in Tucson.

This is not an entry-level bookkeeping position.

We are looking for an experienced accounting professional who knows how to run the books from beginning to end--not simply enter transactions.

The right Teammate will oversee multiple business entities, maintain accurate financial records, manage payroll and reconciliations, produce monthly and year-end financial statements, coordinate tax and employment-related filings, manage vendor payments, and work directly with company ownership, our Controller, third-party CPA/CFO, HR provider, banks, vendors, and other business partners.

One of the major benefits of this position is a four-day workweek. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position designed to provide a consistent three-day weekend.

What You'll Own

You will be responsible for accounting and bookkeeping functions for three collision repair centers and their associated businesses, including:

  • Maintain complete and accurate books using Quick Books Enterprise
  • Manage accounting across multiple companies and business entities
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Reconcile vendor invoices, statements, credits, and payments
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Process weekly payroll and maintain accurate payroll records
  • Prepare, coordinate, and/or file required payroll tax filings
  • Coordinate business tax filings and compliance requirements
  • Manage vendor payments using company credit cards, ACH, bank bill pay, and electronic payment services
  • Maintain vendor records, W-9s, and 1099 reporting
  • Handle new-hire, onboarding, termination, and offboarding paperwork
  • Coordinate with our third-party HR company
  • Administer and coordinate the company's 401(k) program
  • Work directly with our Controller and third-party CPA/CFO
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures
  • Produce accurate month-end and year-end financial statements
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies
  • Maintain appropriate accounting controls and procedures
  • Improve and streamline accounting processes
Financial Statement Responsibility

An important part of this position is producing accurate and timely month-end and year-end financial statements.

For our larger operating companies, you will work with our Controller and third-party CPA/CFO to complete month-end and year-end financial reporting.

For our smaller associated businesses, you will independently complete the books and produce appropriate financial statements without outside accounting assistance.

You should be comfortable preparing, analyzing, and reviewing:

  • Profit & Loss Statements
  • Balance Sheets
  • Cash Flow Statements
  • General Ledger Reports
  • Trial Balances
  • Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Reports
  • Other financial and management reports requested by ownership

We want someone who understands the accounting behind the financial statements--not simply someone who knows which button to push in Quick Books.

Quick Books Enterprise Expertise Is Required

Expert-level Quick Books Enterprise experience is a requirement.

You should have strong command of general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliation, invoice reconciliation, payroll accounting, journal entries, accruals and adjusting entries, month-end and year-end close, financial statement preparation, and multi-company or multi-location accounting.

If you're the person others come to when they can't figure something out in Quick Books, that's the proficiency we're looking for.

Technology, AI & Process Improvement
