Job Overview
Records Technician II – Sheriff's Department. Classified position, salary grade 6, pay range $21.12 to $28.50 per hour.
Responsibilities- Lead staff in receipt, processing, sorting, storing, inventorying, retrieving, and delivering records in a centralized records maintenance, storage or archive facility.
- Provide daily direction and guidance to Records Technician I positions, and supply input to the Unit Supervisor for performance evaluation and planning.
- Process videos from body camera units and redact sensitive, personal, and identifiable information to protect privacy and safety.
- Handle requests from law enforcement agencies, media, and the public for official information, ensuring material is released only to authorized personnel.
- Collect Arizona Crash Reports on public roadways, capture all mandatory information, enter data into the department’s database, and scan reports for digital storage.
- Take delivery of impounded vehicles, arrange storage, liaise with vehicle owners, lien holders, law enforcement, attorneys, insurance and towing companies regarding payment of towing, storage, and release fees, and release vehicles to authorized persons upon receipt of valid documents.
- Accept payments for information and services, issue official receipts, and deposit cash, checks, and other forms of payment at the bank.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of all records received, processed, stored, and encountered in the performance of duties.
- Perform any additional duties as directed by the unit supervisor or department needs.
- Two years of experience performing file maintenance (electronic or manual) in a centralized records maintenance, storage or archive facility, OR
- One year of experience in Pima County as a Records Technician I or equivalent classified position.
- Relevant education and experience must be clearly documented in the application.
Valid driver license required at the time of application and appointment.
Successful applicant will undergo a 39‑month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine suitability for operating county vehicles.
Background Checks- Pre‑employment background screening to verify work history, education, and criminal conviction history.
- Potential personal background investigation by law enforcement agencies for positions requiring access to courts, law enforcement, or correctional facilities.
- Post‑job offer physical and/or drug screen.
- Ability to independently lift and carry boxes of records weighing up to 50 pounds, climb and descend ladders and work platforms while carrying boxes.
- Work in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
