We are excited to announce that we are hiring for a new part-time Operations Coordinator position!

The Operations Coordinator supports the day-to‑day operations of the Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection (CSDP) in a part‑time, flexible capacity. Working closely with our Co‑Executive Directors, this position helps ensure that CSDP runs smoothly by coordinating administrative, financial, and logistical functions that support CSDP’s conservation work.

This is a
part‑time position expected to average approximately 8 hours per week
. Work hours are generally flexible and may vary throughout the year, although some responsibilities will be consistent.

Core tasks and areas of responsibility Financial and administrative coordination:
  • Assist with organizational budgeting, budget monitoring, and financial reporting.
  • Track grant budgets and support grant‑related financial administration.
  • Process checks, online payments, bank deposits, and bank transfers.
  • Manage invoices and coordinate with the organization’s accountant, bookkeeper, and financial service providers.
  • Maintain financial records and support annual audits and tax filings.
  • Process incoming mail and manage other organizational correspondence, including CSDP’s general phone line.
Operations and vendor management:
  • Coordinate relationships with third‑party vendors, consultants, and service providers.
  • Manage organizational assets, including computers, software subscriptions, equipment, office supplies, CSDP merchandise, and mailing supplies.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of operational systems and procedures.
  • Assist with hiring processes, including posting of job openings and management of incoming applications.
Event and project support:
  • Provide logistical support for meetings, field trips, donor events, trainings, and other organizational events.
  • Assist with Board and committee meeting logistics, materials, and records.
  • Assist with event scheduling, registrations, coordination, and materials preparation.
  • Support special projects and organizational initiatives as needed.
Preferred experience and skills
  • Experience in nonprofit administration, operations, office management, bookkeeping, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and competing priorities.
  • Experience tracking budgets, expenses, or financial records.
  • Familiarity with accounting software, financial reporting systems, or bookkeeping processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and cloud‑based collaboration tools.
  • Experience coordinating meetings, events, or volunteer activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with a small team.
  • Experience working with boards of directors, committees, or volunteers is a plus.
  • Experience with vendors and contracts is a plus.
  • Commitment to CSDP’s mission and an interest in conservation, planning, or nonprofit work.
