Overview
The position is located in the office of the Chief, Primary Care Community Clinics Service (PCCCS) and provides support to the Chief and the Administrative Officer, PCCCS. It provides back‑up coverage for the Administrative Officer and performs administrative support for the Primary Care office. This position reports directly to the Administrative Officer for PCCCS. The PCCCS is located in the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System in Tucson, AZ.
ResponsibilitiesProvide administrative support to the Chief and the Administrative Officer of PCCCS. Serve as backup coverage for the Administrative Officer. Assist with administrative duties for the Primary Care office.
QualificationsTime‑In‑Grade Requirement:
Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must meet the time‑in‑grade requirements by the closing date. For a GS‑06 position, you must have 52 weeks at GS‑05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. Submit an SF‑50 showing your time‑in‑grade eligibility with your application.
If your most recent SF‑50 has an effective date within the past year, provide an additional SF‑50 that clearly demonstrates one‑year time‑in‑grade.
Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS‑05 is required. Examples include:
- Utilization of office automation tools to build and maintain electronic files, generate reports, and create documents
- Customer‑service duties providing administrative support to medical staff in clinic management processes
- Reviewing and processing official documents and forms to ensure compliance with an organization’s policies, directives, guidelines, or training materials
Experience can include paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work through National Service programs such as Peace Corps and Ameri Corps, and other organizations. Applicants may receive credit for all qualifying experience. Part‑time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Primarily sedentary work, but requires standing, sitting, bending, stooping, walking, and carrying light items such as books, paper, and equipment. May also include assisting with equipment and patient movement utilizing proper body mechanics.
