Position Summary
The Automotive Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing maintenance on customer and dealership vehicles in a timely, efficient, and safe manner. Technicians must maintain high-quality workmanship while following manufacturer and dealership standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform vehicle inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on automotive systems, including engine, transmission, brakes, steering, suspension, electrical, heating, and air conditioning systems.
- Use diagnostic equipment and manufacturer software to identify vehicle concerns and determine appropriate repairs.
- Complete repair orders accurately and document all work performed.
- Communicate findings, recommended repairs, and repair status with Service Advisors and management.
- Perform warranty and recall repairs according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Conduct quality control inspections and road tests as needed.
- Maintain productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction standards.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with dealership and regulatory requirements.
- Attend manufacturer training and stay current on automotive technology and repair procedures.
- Previous automotive technician experience required.
- ASE certifications preferred.
- Manufacturer certifications preferred.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to operate diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and shop equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces.
- Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally more with assistance.
- Ability to operate motor vehicles and perform road tests.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, noise levels, and shop environments.
