The Payroll Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Tucson, AZ. This role is responsible for supporting the full payroll cycle, including collecting and verifying timecards, entering and updating employee data, and assisting with processing weekly or bi-weekly payroll runs. The Payroll Assistant will help ensure accurate calculation of wages, deductions, and benefits, and support the preparation of payroll reports for management and accounting.
Day-to-day tasks include responding to employee payroll inquiries, maintaining organized payroll records, assisting with payroll tax filings, and coordinating with HR and accounting teams to ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations. This role requires consistent attention to detail, confidentiality, and timely follow-through on all payroll-related tasks.
- Strong skills in Payroll Services and Payroll Administration, including data entry, timecard review, and payroll processing support.
- Experience or familiarity with Payroll Management processes, such as maintaining employee records, supporting audits, and assisting with policy implementation.
- Working knowledge of Payroll Taxes, including basic understanding of with holdings, deductions, and compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Foundational Accounting skills, including reconciliation, report review, and coordination with the accounting team on payroll-related entries.
- Proficiency with payroll and accounting software, as well as standard office tools (e.g., Excel, email, document management systems).
- High level of accuracy, organization, and confidentiality, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or experience in payroll, accounting, or finance is preferred.
