Business Intelligence Analyst II – Public Health Informatics & Analytics Division
Job OverviewThis grant‑funded position (ending November 2027) supports data‑driven decision‑making across the Department. The analyst develops and maintains population health indicators, integrates data from diverse systems, and produces analytic products that inform strategic planning, program improvement, and community health initiatives. The role is located in Tucson, AZ. This in‑office position requires a valid Arizona driver’s license and does not offer visa sponsorship.
EssentialFunctions
- Provide analytical support for the development of business‑intelligence solutions.
- Work on complex, cross‑functional BI solutions affecting one or more departments.
- Participate in multiple projects as a team member and act as team lead when needed.
- Collaborate with internal and external customers, analytics and data governance partners to develop and analyze BI needs.
- Interpret business requirements and determine data‑analysis solutions to meet department needs.
- Design analytics and custom reports that may be used across multiple departments.
- Perform analysis for a wide range of requests using data from various platforms.
- Research business problems and create data models that help analyze identified issues.
- Provide direction for the planning, design, and execution of data‑analysis solutions.
- Review test plans and monitor testing processes to ensure results meet identified needs.
- Support test teams and resolve issues identified by test results.
- Contribute to the development of quality metrics, standards, policies and procedures for BI tools and systems.
- Create data quality tickets, as needed, and ensure timely resolution.
- Research tools, software frameworks and mechanisms for data analytics; interface with vendors to stay abreast of new technologies.
- Ensure proposed BI solutions adhere to current County standards.
- Design and deliver end‑user training and training materials.
- Provide guidance, training, and problem‑solving assistance to other team members.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, university or technical trade school with a major in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems (MIS), or a closely related field, AND five years of business analysis or related technical experience.
- OR:
Two years at Pima County in a Business Intelligence Analyst I position or a similar level. - Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited institution may be substituted.
- Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related field.
- Experience integrating data across programs and platforms for cross‑departmental analysis and strategic decision‑making.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including quality improvement, strategic initiatives, and data governance.
- Experience with population health data analysis, including non‑communicable disease work.
- Experience with Snowflake, SQL, R, Stata, Qlik, REDCap, my Sidewalk, or ArcGIS.
A valid Arizona driver’s license is required at time of application and successful applicant will be subject to a 39‑month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine suitability to operate county vehicles.
