Graphic Designer Position Highlights

The Graphic Designer is responsible for the development and creation of compelling visual communications that strengthen brand identity, advance university priorities, and engage a wide range of audiences across print, digital, social, and other multimedia platforms. Working under the supervision of the Executive Director, Brand Storytelling & Creative, this role creates audience‑centered design solutions that support internal and external university initiatives.

This position serves as a key contributor to the development and execution of university‑branded visual communications, partnering with colleagues and leaders across the organization to provide design expertise, visual storytelling, and creative solutions. The role is responsible for executing complex, high‑volume graphic design production work for print and digital distribution, including preparing production‑ready files and collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to ensure all deliverables meet standards for brand consistency, accessibility, usability, technical accuracy, and production quality while maintaining awareness of user experience best practices and emerging industry trends.

Duties & Responsibilities

Graphic Design and Creative Execution:

  • Design and produce high-quality creative assets across print, digital, environmental, presentation, social media, advertising, email, and web channels.
  • Collaborate on visual development for strategic marketing and communications campaigns, translating organizational objectives into compelling visual concepts.
  • Apply and reinforce brand standards while identifying opportunities to evolve and strengthen visual identity across platforms.
  • Research and incorporate emerging design trends, technologies, and best practices to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

Design Collaboration and Content Development:

  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to understand project goals, audience insights, and develop design solutions that achieve measurable outcomes.
  • Collaborate with writers, photographers, videographers, developers, and vendors to create integrated, cohesive storytelling experiences.
  • Present design rationale and creative recommendations to supervisors, leadership, and stakeholders, incorporating feedback while advocating for effective design solutions.

Graphic Production, Asset Management and Distribution:

  • Prepare, organize, and manage production‑ready design files and creative assets for print and digital distribution, ensuring technical accuracy, accessibility, quality standards, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Maintain organized storage, version control, and accessibility of digital design assets in accordance with established digital asset management practices.

Professional Development and Organizational Support:

  • Stay informed on evolving industry trends, tools, and best practices to support continuous improvement in design processes and creative effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of organizational goals.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated expertise in typography, layout, branding, color theory, and visual communication principles.
  • Expertise with industry‑standard design software, including Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
  • Ability to develop creative work across both print, digital, and other media.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating creative excellence and execution across a variety of projects.
  • Detail oriented with excellent communication, presentation, collaboration, and project management skills.
