Position: Videographer I (ETE)

Position Highlights

Arizona Public Media seeks a talented and highly experienced Videographer to join its award-winning production team. The successful candidate will be an experienced Videographer who has the ability make technical and creative decisions regarding such elements as appropriate lighting, shooting angle, placement and type of microphone audio needs, locations, use of movement, and interviews. They will foster effective communication between teams to advance AZPM’s strategic vision and mission and work collaboratively with members of other departments to ensure the highest levels of production are met.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will have the ability to edit and assemble final visual/audio program material, thus ensuring consistency and relevancy to the production.

This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operates still and/or video cameras for advertising, news, publicity, and story-telling use. Makes technical decisions regarding such elements as appropriate lighting, shooting angel, placement and type of microphone, etc.
  • Monitors technical quality of video and audio recording and lighting apparatus both prior to operation in the field and during.
  • Edits and assembles final visual/audio program material using video editing systems (primarily Adobe Premier Pro and DaVinci Resolve).
  • Works with Production Manager, Producer, and Media Specialist to determine best personnel and equipment needs for desired program’s aesthetic and pacing needs.
  • Helps maintain and coordinate video production equipment storage.
  • Participate in training sessions with other team-members and student workers.
  • May coordinate with outside vendors, as needed.
  • Provide training opportunities to other team-members and student workers. Work in an instructive or teaching capacity as opportunities allow.
Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities
  • Proficiency with broadcast quality field cameras.
  • Knowledge of broadcast rules, regulations, guidelines.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in current non-linear audio and video systems (Adobe Premier Pro and DaVinci Resolve, etc).
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
  • Skill in coordination and scheduling of post-production staff.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • One year of relevant work experience required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Radio/TV, Film, Fine Arts, or related field.
  • 3 years of directly related experience.
  • Experience editing sound, video, and color.
  • Experience in color grading, HDR production, and Next-Gen television.
  • Experience with live video productions.
  • Sound production techniques including live sound and field acquisition techniques, including background in post-production audio.
