Morning Anchor​/MMJ, KGUN

At KGUN, we believe local journalism makes a difference in people's lives every day. We're looking for a Morning Anchor who is much more than a presenter behind the desk. You'll be a storyteller, a reporter, and a visible presence in the Tucson community, helping our audience start their day informed and connected. This role is ideal for a journalist who loves uncovering original stories, building relationships, and being where the news is happening.

• Anchor weekday morning newscasts with accuracy, urgency, and authenticity.
• Report and deliver live coverage from breaking news scenes, major events, and community gatherings.
• Research, gather, write, and develop compelling news content for broadcast, digital, and social platforms.
• Cultivate sources and generate original story ideas that impact Southern Arizona viewers.
• Produce enterprise journalism that goes beyond reading a teleprompter and drives meaningful conversations in the community.
• Collaborate with producers, reporters, photographers, and newsroom leadership to deliver impactful coverage.
• Conduct interviews and field reporting that provide context, accountability, and storytelling depth.
• Represent the station at community events, charitable initiatives, and public appearances.
• Serve as a master of ceremonies or host for station-sponsored and community-focused events.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support newsroom operations and audience engagement.

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three or more years of on-camera news experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license, good driving record, and the ability to provide proof of insurance that meets company-required limits.
• Ability and willingness to travel throughout the community to report stories and cover news events.

• A strong on-camera presence with the ability to connect with viewers and communicate with urgency when news demands it.
• Demonstrated passion for reporting, storytelling, and enterprise journalism.
• Ability to cultivate sources, uncover original stories, and continuously develop meaningful content ideas.
• Strong news judgment and sound editorial decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of newsroom computer systems, digital publishing tools, and news databases preferred.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and changing priorities.
• Strong understanding of journalistic ethics, accuracy standards, and libel law.
• Clear, concise, and confident verbal communication skills.
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to serving the community through trusted journalism.
