- Expertise in modern principles and practices of general dentistry and dental surgery, including preventive care.
- Knowledge of current methods of oral hygiene, disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Ability to provide clinical supervision, consultation, and ongoing staff education.
- Skill in applying dental practice management principles to troubleshoot operational and clinical challenges.
- Experience in program planning, development, and evaluation within a dental or healthcare setting.
- Ability to project and manage future resource needs, including staffing, equipment, training, and facilities.
- Demonstrated fiscal responsibility in delivering high-quality dental services to community members.
- Working knowledge of applicable federal healthcare laws, regulations, and standards, preferably including accreditation requirements and Indian Health Services.
- Commitment to HIPAA compliance and the handling of highly confidential patient and personnel information.
- Strong analytical abilities to review, interpret, and draw conclusions from complex documents and data.
- Ability to address both abstract and concrete challenges through critical thinking and creative problem‑solving.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance competing priorities and multiple initiatives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to draft clear policies, procedures, and memoranda.
- Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries, complaints, and complex situations.
- Strong presentation and public‑speaking skills, including delivering persuasive presentations to executive leadership, professional staff, and community stakeholders.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with healthcare professionals, leadership, Council members, and the public.
- Proficiency in the use of office equipment, computers, and standard software applications.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage multiple projects efficiently.
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an American Dental Association–accredited institution required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a healthcare leadership or management role.
- Master’s degree in Public Health or a related field preferred, but not required.
