The School Chaplain and Associate Priest for Family Ministry position is a combined position intended to meet the chaplaincy needs of the St. Michael’s School community (80%) and to assist hael and All Angels Parish (20%). The chaplain reports to the head of school for all school-related matters and is responsible, in coordination with the lower and upper school directors and faculty, for maintaining and enhancing the Episcopal identity of St.
Michael’s School as articulated in the School’s mission statement.
As Associate Priest for Family Ministry, the Chaplain will preach and celebrate each Sunday at the Family Mass and serve in the regular rotation of preachers and celebrants for the principal morning Masses. The Associate will offer pastoral counsel to the Family Mass community in conjunction with the Rector. They will not have additional weekday liturgical duties other than school Masses.
The Chaplain will serve the School as chaplain/teacher Monday through Thursday during scheduled School days, under the direction of the Head of School and the Division Directors. Time outside of these parameters may be requested in response to the pastoral needs of the school community. The School will be responsible for the Chaplain’s continuing education and training as Chaplain.
