Position Title: Instructor: DV TRiO Upward Bound
- Math & Science (Temporary, Part-Time, up to 19.5 hours per week)Department: Desert Vista Campus - TRiO Upward BoundRate of Pay: $28.17/hourClosed Date: August 18, 2025; 5:00 PM Arizona Time Position Summary:The Pima Community College TRiO Pre-College Programs is accepting applications for temporary instructors for our Academic Saturday Enrichment Classes (during the academic year). This federally funded program supports low-income, first-generation students in grades 9-12 from surrounding high schools by providing academic support, ACT/SAT preparation, and college/career exploration.

We are hiring instructors for:

  • Math (all levels)
  • Writing
Preference will be given to candidates with substantial experience working with the target student population, project-based learning, and a comprehensive knowledge of standardized tests such as the ACT and SAT.
** These positions are temporary and contingent upon renewed yearly funding. This grant is pending renewed yearly funding September, 2025.**
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach non-credit enrichment classes to a diverse group of high school students.
  • Prepare instructional materials, lesson plans, and classroom presentations.
  • Develop, review, and update curriculum.
  • Assess, evaluate, and document students' skills and progress. (Pre & Post Assessments.)
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Demonstrate effective classroom management
  • Utilize non-traditional, student-centered instructional approaches
  • Apply career and academic development principles
  • Foster a cohesive, multi-level learning environment
  • Adapt instruction and programming to meet diverse student needs
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and the general public


Job Requirements :

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related area and
  • Two (2) years of related instructing experience
Or
  • Candidates who possess similar minimum objective qualifications should describe in detail the education and work experience you regard as establishing the equivalency
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of instructional principles and methods
  • Expertise in curriculum development and the evaluation/selection of instructional materials
  • Proficiency in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills, with a focus on non-traditional, student-centered approaches
  • Understanding of career and academic development principles
  • Ability to instruct and evaluate students in enrichment settings
  • Develop and implement cohesive curricula and lesson plans
  • Maintain effective, multi-level group dynamics
  • Adapt instruction and programming to meet diverse student needs
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and the public
Physical Requirements:Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, repetitive motions, and fine finger movements – using the fingers to manipulate/handle objects such as typing, sorting papers, activating buttons, or sorting/separating small parts.

Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long periods or moving from one work site to another.
