Position: Teacher *POOL* - Two-Way Dual Language, Spanish/English K-12 (Effective 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR)

Summary

Teacher in the Tucson Unified School District Two-Way Dual Language Program advances student achievement through effective management of the learning environment, including preparing lesson plans, evaluating, and monitoring student performance and progress in alignment with the 90/10 immersion model. Teachers provide effective and equitable instruction to students in various planned courses to address both content and language learning goals. They demonstrate a solid commitment to continuous learning and understand and appreciate diversity;

they collaboratively develop instructional strategies that encourage students to analyze and interpret class material. Teachers are responsible for maintaining a safe, respectful classroom to create an environment conducive to optimizing student strengths while simultaneously developing their natural curiosity and love of learning.

Minimum Requirements
  • Grades Kindergarten – 3rd
    • Arizona Elementary Certificate K-8 with Bilingual Endorsement (Spanish approved area also required if teaching Spanish)
    • Arizona Early Childhood Certificate, Birth to Age‑8 with Spanish Bilingual Endorsement (Spanish approved area also required if teaching Spanish)
  • Grades 4th – 8th
    • Arizona Elementary Certificate K-8 with Spanish Bilingual Endorsement (Spanish approved area also required if teaching Spanish)
  • Grades 9th – 12th
    • Arizona Secondary Certificate with Spanish Bilingual Endorsement (Spanish approved area also required if teaching Spanish)
  • Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Requirements Prior to Start Date
  • Proof of immunity to measles and rubella, or proof of MMR immunization
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated success in engaging African American and Latino students

Additional Benefits
  • New to District Two-Way Dual Language teachers considered Hard to Fill and eligible for a $5,000 stipend, paid in two installments at the end of each semester. Pro‑rated for employees who work less than 1.0 FTE / 207 days.
Policy Statements
  • Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
  • Salary will be prorated if the start date is after the first day of the work calendar for the position.
