Summary
Teacher in the Tucson Unified School District Two-Way Dual Language Program advances student achievement through effective management of the learning environment, including preparing lesson plans, evaluating, and monitoring student performance and progress in alignment with the 90/10 immersion model. Teachers provide effective and equitable instruction to students in various planned courses to address both content and language learning goals. They demonstrate a solid commitment to continuous learning and understand and appreciate diversity;
they collaboratively develop instructional strategies that encourage students to analyze and interpret class material. Teachers are responsible for maintaining a safe, respectful classroom to create an environment conducive to optimizing student strengths while simultaneously developing their natural curiosity and love of learning.
- Grades Kindergarten – 3rd
- Arizona Elementary Certificate K-8 with Bilingual Endorsement (Spanish approved area also required if teaching Spanish)
- Arizona Early Childhood Certificate, Birth to Age‑8 with Spanish Bilingual Endorsement (Spanish approved area also required if teaching Spanish)
- Grades 4th – 8th
- Arizona Elementary Certificate K-8 with Spanish Bilingual Endorsement (Spanish approved area also required if teaching Spanish)
- Grades 9th – 12th
- Arizona Secondary Certificate with Spanish Bilingual Endorsement (Spanish approved area also required if teaching Spanish)
- Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Proof of immunity to measles and rubella, or proof of MMR immunization
- Demonstrated success in engaging African American and Latino students

Varied. Typical Teacher FTE 1.0, 7.5 hours per day - Work Calendar: 9.5 months – 207 days (212 days for new to district teachers)
- New to District Two-Way Dual Language teachers considered Hard to Fill and eligible for a $5,000 stipend, paid in two installments at the end of each semester. Pro‑rated for employees who work less than 1.0 FTE / 207 days.
- Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
- Salary will be prorated if the start date is after the first day of the work calendar for the position.
