Summary
A teacher in the Tucson Unified School District advances student achievement through effective management of the learning environment, including preparing lesson plans, evaluating, and monitoring student performance and progress. Teachers provide effective and equitable instruction to students in various planned courses, demonstrate a solid commitment to continuous learning, understand and appreciate diversity, and collaboratively develop instructional strategies that encourage students to analyze and interpret class material.
Teachers are responsible for maintaining a safe, respectful classroom environment to create an atmosphere conducive to optimizing student strengths while simultaneously developing natural curiosity and a love of learning.
- Arizona Elementary Certificate with Middle Grades Social Studies OR Social Studies Approved Area OR History Approved Area
- Arizona Middle Grades Certificate with Middle Grades Social Studies OR Social Studies Approved Area OR History Approved Area
- Arizona Secondary Certificate with Middle Grades Social Studies OR Social Studies Approved Area OR History Approved Area
- Arizona Subject Matter Expert Certificate 6-12 with Social Studies Approved Area OR History Approved Area
- Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- FBI fingerprint background check
- Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
- Demonstrated success in engaging African American and Latino students
- Bilingual (Spanish) endorsement

FTE:
Varies. Typical Teacher FTE 1.0, 7.5 hours per day.
Work Calendar: 9.5 months – 207 days (212 days for new to district teachers).
Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
Salary will be prorated if the start date is after the first day of the work calendar for the position.
