County Free Library – Salazar‑Ajo Library (Ajo, AZ) is hiring a Part‑time Library Technical Assistant. Job Classification 5914, Salary Grade 2, $17.37–$20.41 per hour.
Essential Functions- Provide direct customer service to the public, including answering telephone calls, sending electronic communications, interpreting library and county policies, resolving complaints and providing technical assistance with library equipment and software.
- Assist the public in using library resources and services such as the catalog, databases, online accounts, digital downloads and self‑service technologies.
- Troubleshoot and maintain library computers, collaborating with library and county IT staff to resolve technical issues.
- Assist patrons with personal devices and common web‑based platforms, operating systems, software and applications.
- Check items in and out, issue and update library cards, collect fines, process deposits, bill customer accounts, issue refunds, process reserves and interlibrary loans, and research information in customer accounts.
- Provide culturally competent services, demonstrating emotional intelligence in support of the library’s diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Abide by state and federal laws in handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Utilize problem‑solving, decision‑making, conflict resolution, de‑escalation and assessment skills to meet patron needs.
- Any combination of skills, education or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities identified above.
- All qualifications and experience must be documented in the application.
- Minimum one year paid or volunteer library experience.
- Minimum one year customer service experience.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Minimum two years of technology experience (email, eBooks, Microsoft Office Suite, personal electronic devices such as tablets, cell phones, e‑readers, library website, Google Forms or Docs, and integrated library systems).
- Experience using an integrated library system (ILS) such as Sierra, Polaris, Sirsi Dynix, Millennium, Alma, Symphony, Horizon, Carl, or Apollo.
- Experience operating a copier, fax, cash register and handling money.
- Valid Arizona Class D driver license required at the time of application or before the start of employment.
- Successful completion of a pre‑employment background check.

Primarily works in a public library environment serving diverse populations. The position requires rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
