Special Education Teacher
Position Summary
Special Education teacher responsible for program structure and resources for K‑12 powered virtual high schools, ensuring successful progress for at‑risk students.
Essential Functions- Modify and/or adapt the K‑12 curriculum in alignment with the state’s content standards to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to meet the goals of targeted students through individualized and small group sessions.
- Educate parents on instructional strategies.
- Ensure implementation of the RTI instructional system to increase student achievement.
- Oversee data collection and progress monitoring at every tier.
- Use data to help teachers plan whole and small group instruction; provide guidance to teachers on identifying and grouping students who need additional help.
- Collect and maintain all RTI data (lists of eligible students, intervention plans).
- Serve as a daily resource to school administrators, leadership teams, and stakeholders regarding RTI issues.
- Collaborate with homeroom teachers, advisors, counselors, and district personnel to coordinate Tier2 interventions.
- Provide ongoing training and support to staff regarding RTI and data collection procedures.
- Support teachers in documenting student progress and facilitate eligibility for special education.
- Travel up to 20% of time for professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Active Arizona Department of Education high‑school special education teaching certification.
- Ability to clear required background check.
- Arizona fingerprinting card.
- Residency requirement: must reside in Arizona (surrounding states may be considered).
- 0–1 year of related professional experience.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data and use it to drive instructional decisions.
- Receptive to receiving coaching from administrators and teacher trainers.
- Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint.
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
- Maintain teacher certification and professional development hours; fluency in K‑12 systems, programs, and curriculum.
- Experience working with proposed age group.
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology.
- Experience teaching in an online (virtual) environment and/or brick‑and‑mortar classroom.
- Experience with online learning platforms.
Salary range: $50,573.00–$63,216.00. Eligible employees may receive a bonus.
