Purpose Statement
The job of Campus Support is performed to provide support to the instructional process, ensuring the safety and welfare of students in a variety of support service areas including noon duty coverage, AM/PM duty coverage, classroom assistance, crosswalk coverage, and other areas as needed on campus.
The position reports to the Building Administrator.
Essential Functions
- Assist students with safe access to and from assigned location.
- Communicate safety and security policies and enforcement procedures to students, staff, and visitors.
- Maintain job‑related equipment (stop sign, jacket, sand bags, flag, etc.).
- Monitor individual and/or groups of students in various settings (classroom, playground, field trips, between periods, library, lunchroom, bus loading/unloading, etc.) to ensure compliance with guidelines and maintain a safe environment.
- Monitor student behavior entering and exiting school grounds.
- Refer incidents (personal injuries, altercations, suspicious activities, rule violations, etc.) to appropriate site personnel for follow‑up.
- Report observations and incidents relating to specific students to instructional and/or administrative personnel.
- Respond to inquiries from students and parents regarding campus security issues.
- Respond to a variety of situations (accidents, injuries, etc.) to take appropriate action to resolve immediate safety and/or security concerns.
- Support classroom teachers and other school personnel to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
Other Functions
- Participate in unit meetings, in‑service training, workshops, etc. to convey and gather information required to perform job functions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
- Skills, Knowledge and Abilities – Adhering to safety practices; enforcing rules and regulations; basic math; understand written procedures; write routine documents; communicate clearly; understand complex instructions; schedule activities; collate data; use basic job‑related equipment; work with a wide diversity of individuals; maintain confidentiality; problem‑solve to create action plans.
- Responsibility – Work under direct supervision using standardized routines; provide information and advise others.
- Work Environment – Physical demands include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, fine finger dexterity; approximate mix of sitting (40%), walking (30%), standing (30%); work under temperature extremes and potential risks of injury and illness.
- Experience – Job related experience desired.
- Education – High school diploma or equivalent.
- Clearances – Criminal Background Clearance;
Valid Arizona DPS Level I IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
